Adam Matta(beatbox, vocal sound effects, theremin, bicycle wheel-and-walkman sound sculpture, samples) is an Artist in Residence at Cornell University, where he performs regularly and beatboxes for dance classes. Solo shows at New Museum for Contemporary Art, NYC, Here Arts Center, Galapagos, PS 122, La MAMA. Performed with Bora Yoon at Lincoln Center; with Beatboxer Entertainment at Madison Square Garden; with Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) at Joe's Pub and Town Hall; also with Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors), Michael Leonhart (Steely Dan), Eyal Maoz (Tzadik), Tim Lefebvre (Saturday Night Live), Sxip Shirey, and Reg E Gaines (Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk), Julianne Carney, James Ilgenfritz. His music scored The L Word: Season II; a soundtrack released on Tommy Boy Records; and Benson Lee's 2007 documentary Planet B-Boy. Appeared on Damon Wayan's The Underground and WNYE's Afterschool. Featured on NPR's All Things Considered and "Storycorps/Soundportraits" on Morning Edition. Performed with the Cornell University Chamber Orchestra, and in Beatbox Bard, directed by Bruce Levitt, an original play mixing beatboxing and Shakespeare. Adam Matta records with Pete Gerakaris on guitar(Composer of "Hassle-Free Hook Up") and Jon Price on bass.
